Hi everyone,
Once again I come with a problem,
I am using herelink in many of my machines in airunit to airunit configuration. One air unit is the base station and depending on which machine I am using I have to pair each time by pressing switch. This solution is quite problematic if only because it requires taking apart the machine enclosures. I am looking for a solution to force the pairing procedure remotely. On both sides I am connected to the Airunits via ethernet, in the machines I have a companion computer with linux to which I have remote access via the Internet, if via ethernet it is not possible I am able to establish a connection via USB.
My question is, is it possible to force the pairing command other than pressing a button, having remote access to Airunit?
@Michael_Oborne Any chance of an answer on this topic? Is it technically feasible?
Hello!
Unfortunatelly, as far as I know, there is no way to trigger the binding process of the herelink remotely.
The only solution that comes to my mind would be a servo driven pushing device, but I do not think that it is a solution that you’d call acceptable.
This surprises me greatly, because, after all, both air unit and Herelink controller run on similar hardware. Both are android, and from the position of the controller you can trigger pairing through software.
I’m not hoping for a ready-made software solution, but at least for a clue where to look.
Absolutely I am not able to accept a mechanical solution, I am considering the option with modification of the electronics and control of shorting the switch pins with a transistor, but the further development of my devices on herelink system then stands in a big question, I look with an increasingly favorable eye to DoodleLabs. Especially since support there at least exists.
Hello!
That is a very interesting answer as it contains something that contradicts all of my knowledge.
Unfortunatelly you can’t start the pairing process on the controller through software, at least as far as I know of. The only way to do so is through the pushing of a switch on the air unit.
As for the doodlelabs - its helix series of transcivers are a very good systems, which I can’t recomend enough. Unfortunatelly it’s price is also what it is.
