Trying to get my large octocopter to lift off and its yawing to the left before takeoff. No amount of input will bring it back.

Maybe you have twisted motors or misaligned motors. Double check it.

I think i found the problem. I have an octocopter that runs on 4 main booms and then splits into 8. What i think is happening is when the differential speed for yaw is initiated it torques the boom in the unwanted direction thus cancelling it out. My question is there any way to make the layout direction of the motors the opposite way?

Probably it has some way… but I never did it, really do not know how to help on this.
But people from Ardupilot forum may know how to do this.
