I use the larger one on both sides. I got 4 of them in the kit. You´ll get better range with those.

Also I’ve seen over 20km with the short antennas on the aircraft, and they will probably do more, just the long antennas on the ground unit.

The short ones require a ground plane. If you can provide a ground plane on your aircraft they are light and they work very well. If you cannot provide a ground plane, then use the long ones.
