Trying to connect a Spektrum radio to a CubePilot

Hello all,

I’m a first timer here and I’m building a bicopter using a CubePilot Cube Blue.
I have a DX8 G2 transmitter and a Spektrum SPMAR8020T 8-channel telemetry receiver. I am seeking assistance with integrating them with the CubePilot. I apologize in advance for the basic level of questions.

I am unsure of where to plug in such a receiver into the CubePilot. Reading through the CubePilot documentation, it talks about connecting RC radio receivers to the 3-pin SPKT port, but all cables I find for Spektrum RC receivers are 4-pin.

Any advice, insight, or knowledge on the subject would be greatly appreciated!

That is really a receiver designed specifically for planes and it’s expected that all servo channel outputs will be used - each connected to one or more servos. There is NO one combined output like SBUS or CPPM, which is what you need.

You could get a PWM to PPM convertor but that’s extra weight and complexity - so last century.

Get something else.

If you want to use it’s SRXL2 output you need to connect it to a fully-fledged serial port and do some settings to suit. The four-wire cables only have 3 wires actually connected.

Thank you for your reply. I decided to go with another Spektrum transmitter that ended up working when plugged into the Telem2 port on the Cube.
