UBC AeroDesign - Greetings & Post-Competition Recap

Hello everyone!

UBC AeroDesign is an aerospace student engineering design team from the University of British Columbia that designs, builds, and flies payload-lifting, radio-controlled, fixed-wing airplanes to compete in the international SAE Aero Design Collegiate Series.

Over the previous year, the CubePilot’s ecosystem has played an integral role in UBC AeroDesign’s Advanced Class aircraft success. The 2024 SAE Aero Design Advanced Class competition requires a payload-carrying aircraft to fly a circuit while collecting real-time data to release and land an autonomous aircraft (PADA) onto a desired ground target. From test-flights to competition, the Cube Orange+ helped to maintain the stability of the experimental aircraft, send reliable and valuable telemetry data to the ground station, and in combination with the Here3 GPS, aided the PADA’s navigation to the ground target. We are extremely grateful to CubePilot for sponsoring our team with additional hardware and proud of what they helped us achieve. This opens up many more opportunities for us to fly with confidence, learn from mistakes, and compete in more ambitious challenges.
