Cube Orange+ not detected in device manager

Hi everyone!
I purchased a Cube Orange+ with a mini carrier board but I’m having some problems.
When I connect the autopilot to the computer (windows 10) via USB it lights up (solid orange) but it isn’t detected in the device manager.
I tried to reinstall MP with the latest release, to update the drivers and also to change USB cable (I also used a cable that works perfectly with a Cube Black with a standard board) but nothing. From what I read, newer autopilots don’t come with a software uploaded and that’s okay, but how can I upload the software if the board isn’t recognized?

Thank you very much!

Hi everyone, I have another question for you!
I tried 9 different cables but nothing worked, so I was asking myself if the new Cube Orange Plus come with at least a sort of bootloader to connect it (and then upload the firmware) or do they come completely blank?
It is not clear to me why it isn’t recognized by the Device Manager and moreover if entering DFU mode will make it recognizable. By the way I’m not confident enough to open the case and enter DFU mode, I don’t think a “normal user” should do that.

Thanks!

Have you seen any unknown COM ports on your device manager? If yes, try to connect it via Mission Planner then upgrade the cube orange to the latest firmware. The other solution is to press Ctrl+F while opening Mission Planner. Choose “Driver Clean” then reinstall the driver shown as here Installing Mission Planner | CubePilot

Hello everyone, I am also facing the same problem after i tried to secure the firmware, the cubeorange is not showing any open ports nor it is showing in device manager, can you please guide me what to do with it now?

Hi, at the end we decided to change the Cube, we think it was defective. Hope this help you!

Hello @Luca_Linguerri, if you got your cube replaced, then that’s good. Otherwise, I somehow managed to get the cube working again by entering DFU mode. If you ever choose to do it, I can help.

Yes @prabhat_srivastava, can you please help me how to do that?

Yes please, it would be nice to try to make it working again. We just bought a new one and the old Cube is resting in a shelf
Thank you very much!

I understand the challenges that can arise when a Cube Orange+ isn’t detected by Windows. This issue is often related to USB communication problems or driver conflicts.

Here are some steps that have proven effective:

Verify the USB Cable: Ensure you’re using a USB cable capable of data transfer. Some cables are designed solely for charging and won’t facilitate data communication.

Use a USB 2.0 Port: Some users have found better compatibility using USB 2.0 ports instead of USB 3.0.

Clean and Reinstall Drivers:

Open Mission Planner.

Press Ctrl + F to access the hidden menu.

Click on “Driver Clean” to remove existing drivers.

Close Mission Planner.

Download and install the latest drivers from the official source: Mission Planner Drivers.

Restart your computer.

Check Device Manager: After reconnecting the Cube, open Device Manager to see if it’s recognized. It might appear under different names, such as “Cube Orange Mavlink” or “Cube Orange SLCAN.”

Consider DFU Mode: If the Cube still isn’t recognized, entering DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode can help. However, this process can be intricate and may require opening the device. If you’re not comfortable with this, seeking assistance or considering a replacement might be advisable.

Ensuring that your operating system is up-to-date and that you’re using the latest version of Mission Planner can also make a significant difference. Sometimes, hardware issues can be the root cause, and replacing the Cube might be the most straightforward solution.

I hope this helps!
Gracious!

Hello @prabhat_srivastava I also have the same Issue. I would appreciate greatly if you could help me on how to enter DFU mode.

Sounds like you attempted to update the bootloader and bricked the Cube
This is how to update the bootloader using DFU
