Here 4 Compass Error RM3100: BIST failed 0xBF

Hello,

I have on our drone 2 Here 4 GPS sets, both worked fine, but since last week, I get this error

RM3100: BIST failed 0xBF

And the Compass can not be detected anymore from one GPS Set. Does anybody know this error message?

I have exactly the same problem, confirmed already on 5 Here4 modules. The problem occurs after just 2h of flight in several, 2 units have flown about 20h until the problem occurs. We fly in 2xHere4 configuration, the firmware is the latest. After the error, the GPS itself works correctly but the compass is not detected. The problems reveal themselves at startup I have not noticed anything particularly disturbing in flight, but by the occurrences themselves we give up Here 4 in our fleet. On cubepilot’s facebook group or on linkedin I have eii information from cubepilot that here4 has some problems and bug, is it this compass problem or something else? @philip

Hi

I have the same issue, almost 13 units of here4 are stuck in white light config at the boot and about 15 units of here4 are showing gps but no compass

Lots of people facing same issue but no real update on this issue.

Can you say more about the compass problems? After what flight time did the problem occur and in what configuration do you use them?

Same problem here, but using Here 3+, some loss the compass in first flights, another ones loss the compass in some months. I have about 10 modules with this problem with the same module RM3100. Wtf are happening? A lot of money in the trash.

@philip we expect a acknowledgement of the problem and further process to solve the issue

The issue you are talking about has been acknowledged and is covered under a previous bulletin. New units have a second compass and can be used with that compass rather than the RM3100 in industries where the 3100 appears unsuitable.

If your unit is broken, follow up with your reseller

It only talks about 3 units having issues. Can you elaborate more here as to what is the cause for failure? Was new compass is added knowing failure modes?
I don’t see changelog on which compass is used for backup.
